Nonprofit Spotlight: Gaston County Museum

For the next few months we will be featuring the nonprofit organizations participating in the 2018 Endowment Challenge. Last month we featured the Friends of the Gaston County Public Library and this month we would like to recognize the Gaston County Museum of Art and History. This organization interprets the art and history of Gaston County and the region through collection, preservation, and education. From challenging exhibits to engaging public programs, the Museum strives to inspire diverse audiences to understand their shared heritage.

The Community Foundation has worked with the Gaston County Museum in the past, providing grants for programs such as a STEAM educational program. They are a Run participant each year and active in the Gaston County community. Their upcoming exhibit is titled “1929 Strike: A community Divided.” This exhibit will explore the iconic 1929 Loray Mill Strike, delving into why laborer chose to organize and how it influenced the rest of the country.

This is only one example of the ways the Gaston County Museum explores the history of our area. To learn more about what is upcoming or how you can visit, click here.
