Thank you to our Run Volunteers

We wanted to take a moment to thank our community for all they did to support the 2019 Community Foundation Run. While the run did not take place on Saturday, April 13th, the celebration of our community did! In the weeks leading up to the run the Community Foundation office was filled with volunteers and community members anxiously helping us prepare for one of the biggest events during our year. In the months leading up to the event our steering committee gathered consistently to assure that all the appropriate preparations were in place to ensure another great year of the run. On the morning of the race, many of these same people joined us at the Rotary Pavilion before the sun came up to set up for the seventeenth year of Community Foundation Run. These individuals were alongside us, enthusiastically preparing, before the unexpected storms came. They were there, anxiously waiting and hoping that the rain would hold off.

That morning the community still gathered despite the uncertainty of the weather. They offered rain jackets and umbrellas to those who had come hopeful the rain would hold off. They gathered under tents together and rushed to help other volunteers in need. In the days after the race we marveled at the amount of people there on Saturday in support of this celebratory event. While many of us were disappointed to have to cancel the 2019 Community Foundation Run, the coming together as a community could not be cancelled. That day we still celebrated months of hard work by so many fantastic volunteers and we celebrated the philanthropic spirit of our community.

We want to take another moment to thank you for all your support of this event. The Community Foundation Run is about just that; community. It is about supporting those who make our community a better place and we want to thank every person who volunteered, signed up to race or donated this year. You are the main reason for the success of this event each year for 17 years!

As you may or may not know, this is the first race that has been canceled in 17 years, so here’s to hoping it will be another 17 years before we have to cancel this race! Thank you again to our community for all you do to support this event and the nonprofits in our area.
