Join us for even MORE family fun at the 2019 Run!

For the 2019 Run, the Community Foundation has partnered with Junior League to offer Truck Fest on the day of the Run. Truck Fest is an interactive event packed with fun experiences for the entire family.  You can meet a real police officer and see the inside of a patrol car, watch a dump truck work up close, check out all the secret little compartments of an ambulance, ask firemen questions about their truck and gear and sit in the driver's seat of a real 18 wheeler!  Truck Fest will be packed with a wide variety of trucks for children of all ages to experience, learn and explore.

There will also be 2 bands, Stepside Deluxe and Dreamer, joining us on the Rotary Pavilion stage. We will also be featuring several local food trucks at the event and be sure to check out the downtown Gastonia restaurants that will be open and offering breakfast/brunch on the day of the event.

History of the Run

As a way to celebrate the Community Foundation’s 25th anniversary, the first “Run for the Money” event was held March 29, 2003. Building on an idea from the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole, Linda Slade and May Barger co-chaired the event and modeled it after the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole's Old Bill's Fun Run for Charities.

After fourteen consecutive years, the success of the event has been proclaimed by participating non profits, community leaders, runners, walkers, donors, sponsors and all participants. To celebrate the success of the Run, the Board voted in 2014 to change the name to the Community Foundation Run.

The most wonderful part of the Run might be the powerful spirit of community collaboration it creates....Nonprofit leaders, business pacesetters, law enforcement and others link arms to make all this happen so others will be served."
