Competitive Grants Cycle
The Community Foundation awards grants to Gaston County non-profits from unrestricted and field-of-interest funds, as allocated by the Board of Directors. Any request from a local (Gaston County), 501c3 organization may apply. Applications are due in July.
Community Impact Fund Grants
Grants to benefit Belmont, Cherryville and Mount Holly 501c3 organizations. Community Impact Fund board members are residents in the area of which they serve. Each board may award up to $10,000 in grants to a non-profit(s) located in their region.
Harold T. Sumner Professional Education Grants
Grants given to independent non-profit organizations in Gaston County. The competitive grants will be awarded to independent charitable, cultural, or educational organizations that seek financing for a professional staff member to participate in special training opportunities. Grant applications are available in May of each year.
Next Generation Grants
The Next Generation Fund grant cycle is in the fall each year. The committee selects the focus of the grant cycle on a yearly basis.
Teens Changing Gaston County Grants
The Community Foundation engages youth in philanthropy, as grantmakers, providing funding for teen-led projects in Gaston County. The teen-led project must have a sponsoring nonprofit organization. Applications for funding are available in mid-October.

More than two dozen scholarships are offered through the Community Foundation to a variety of students. Each scholarship has a set criteria, created by the donor, that can be found on our Scholarship page. Scholarships are made possible through the generosity of Foundation donors.
