• Female high school senior and resident of the former Girl Scouts of the Pioneer Council service area; Cleveland, Gaston, Lincoln, Polk, and Rutherford Counties of N.C. The young woman does not have to be a Girl Scout to apply, but participation in the Girl Scout Movement will be looked upon with favor.
  
• Attendance at a N.C. college or university will also be looked upon with favor.

Selection of recipients will be made by a Selection Committee designated by the Fund’s Advisors and approved by the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation of Gaston County.

This committee will be composed of Sylvia L. Holmes, and two professional staff members of Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Council who in are incumbent at the selection time.

When considering a candidate’s scholarship application the Selection Committee places value on effort, content, appearance, spelling and grammar.
