The First Gaston Foundation Fund, a scholarship advised fund at the Gaston Community Foundation, is pleased to announce the 2026 Albert G. Myers Scholarship recipients.
Each scholarship is for $20,000 over four years to be used at the school of the student’s choice. The scholarships have been awarded for more than 50 years and are named for the late Albert G. Myers, Sr., a prominent business leader and philanthropist for many years in Gastonia.
The 2026 recipients are:
| Israel Aladekoba Israel is the brother of Chelsea Aladekoba of Bessemer City. He is a graduate of Hunter Huss High School. He plans to attend North Carolina A&T State University. Daniella Gonzalez Alejos Daniella is the daughter of Antonio Gonzalez and Marisol Lopez. She is a graduate of Highland School of Technology. She plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill. Eli Grant Eli is the son of Jonathan and Ashleigh Grant of Gastonia. He is a graduate of Piedmont Community Charter School. He plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill. Helanea Killian Helanea is the daughter of Megan Yelton of Bessemer City. She is a graduate of Gaston Early College High School. She plans to attend the College of Charleston. Zaniah McDowell Zaniah is the daughter of Brittany Jenkins of Gastonia. She is a graduate of Piedmont Community Charter School. She plans to attend Spelman College. Zalak Mehta Zalak is the daughter of Ashish and Armin Mehta of Gastonia. She is a graduate of Highland School of Technology. She plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill. Lillian Morin Lillian is the daughter of Jessica Jenkins of Bessemer City. She is a graduate of Gaston Early College of Medical Sciences. She plans to attend UNC-Chapel Hill. Alexis Odell Alexis Odell is the daughter of Chad and Debbie Burtrum of Dallas. She is a graduate of Gaston Early College High School. She plans to attend Appalachian State University. |
